High Beam Headlight Upgrade on BMW X5

Contributed by: x5Monkey®

Today I
installed Sylvania/Osram Silver Star 9005 bulbs in my high beams. I
wanted a little better match for the factory xenons but I didn't want
to sacrifice saftety for color. I wasn't too concerned with a perfect
match. My main concern was getting the most light. The Silver Stars do
have a blueish glass but they are not a normal blue Japanese bulb. See
test results below:

These were for H7 bulbs but I imagine they're equal for 9005.

(Note How PIAAs rated)

Passanger side: stock Sylvania 9005 high beams
Driver Side: Sylvania Silver Star

The
stock bulb is just sort of a blob of light that doesn't have a great
deal of focus. The Silver Stars focus their beam further down the road.
Tons of light and a pretty good $40 upgrade. Definitely an improvement
over stock bulbs. The second best beam of light avail., any color. (The
best, Philips Vision Plus, are not avail in 9005)

Available in the US at most auto parts shops.
