Upgrading non-DSP audio system to the DSP in an X5
Contributed by: TucsonX5
I just wired up my X5 for DSP and so far it's working.. I got the amp and
the sub woofer out of a junk yard along with a MKIII for $400.00 and
sold the MKIII for $400 on Ebay and got the DSP system for free. The
color coded wiring is just the same for DSP and non DSP the only thing
is Ibus and the telephone wires aren't there. I picked up the Ibus from
the CD changer and just taped up the telephone 4 wires for later. There
are two extra set of wires from the radio module that aren't used also.
I thought I would be lucky and just pull the pins from one plug to the
other but, that didn't work out. The main pins from the non DSP are
flat pins and the DSP is rounded. The speaker pins from the non DSP amp
looked like they would just unplug out of the plastic connector and
plug directly into the DSP connector but no luck the DSP connect is a
hair smaller or different manufacture. I had to do a little soldering.
What fun.. All the DSP displays on the nav screen works fine. the sub
works a lot of bass.. I'm going to have to learn how to live with the
echo.. I'm still learning this DSP thing.. 0
