Fixing no Audio with Bluetooth Install on e53 and e39

Contributed by: UCrewX5

MODEL

E39, 5 Series from 09/00 (without DSP, or Nav system)
E53, X5 vehicles from 10/00 (without DSP, or Nav system)

SITUATION

After installation of the BMW Bluetooth Phone System, the CPT 7000
Phone System, or the CPT 8000 Phone System, there is no audio heard
during the "hands free" operation of the phone.

CAUSE

The connector X13598 (for the telephone audio signal) has been disconnected from the socket (X18126) at the back of the New Generation radio. Connector X13598 has been disconnected during production in order to eliminate audible disturbances in the sound system (I-bus signals crossing to the telephone cable).

CORRECTION

Reconnect the X13598 connector at the back of the radio module.

New Generation radio connection:
(2)X18126 (socket for telephone audio signal)

To remove the radio from the vehicle:

  1. Remove control button from the MID
  2. Insert Torx T-10 (1) – as shown on the illustration and turn counter clockwise. Remove MID.

  • Insert Torx T-15 (1) into locations

indicated by black arrows - as shown on the illustration. Turn counter
    clockwise. Remove the radio

  • Connector X13598 (1) is attached to the radio wiring harness.

  • Remove insulation (2) and insert connector X13598 (1) into the open slot in the main radio connector.
