I really don't see one as going "downhill" over the other. Nor do I understand the general Lexus bashing in this thread
It's all about the product delivering the brand promise to a core, target consumer. Marketing 101.
Lexus does what their target wants them to deliver and does it very well; Reliable, comfortable to drive & luxurious
