Thanks very much for your response. The interior and exterior door handles for this rear door were moving back and forth (with what appeared to be some pressure to them), however the handles would not engage to open the door. I attempted to override the handles by pulling directly on the cable (which caused the door latch to go upward), but the door would not open. The plastic cable connector does not appear to be broken on the side that attaches to the interior handle. It’s difficult for me to get a real clear view on the other side, but the cable (and connectors) do not appear to be broken on the side that connects to the exterior door handle, either. Additionally, it looks as though the cable is engaging the latch (i.e., causing the door latch to go up).
I don't think the child proof lock has anything to do with this. But, right now I'm abit stumped (as you can tell) about how to fix this.
