I'm not too mechanically inclined, but keep in mind I have a mercedes ml. I take it to a shop that works on bmws and such at a good price. Also, I believe the values are about the same, so with trading in I don't think I'd be paying much more. I just really like the style much more, the little extra features, and the ride quality of the X5.
