there seems to be two types of License Plate LED solutions.

(Pic 1) LED licente plate housing with built-in LEDS. Normally have 12-24 very tiny LEDs in one housing.

(Pic 2) LED bulb replacements for the original. These are fetson bulbs with 2-3 36mm LEDs.


The OEM license plate LEDs in 2011 X3, 2012 X5 seems to have a 2 LED (Pic 3, 4, 5). Pics 4, 5 is from forum member Mosman's 2011 X5 35i OEM LEDs.

As I'm only looking to achieve the brightness and color of OEM, is (Pic 2) a better solution? They are alot cheaper too.

Please provide your input. Thanks!
