Exactly. No one will buy the car just to spend as much as a properly running one. 10-15k is probably the best offer you'll get.

For example, a friend of mine is a mechanic. I guy came in with an 06 Audi A6. The car would not run at all. It was going to end up costing the customer 1-2k just to disassemble the motor to figure out what was wrong. He ended up buying the car for WAY under market value. 20 hours of labor later (yanked motor and trans, took apart heads and rebuilt), the car ran right again. Point is, the average person cannot take the risk of it costing that much.
