Here you can see how Stringback got on with the SIM version of the TCU.

I agree with Brian-BMW the car was probably converted to WDCT after it left the States. Why it doesn't work with your SIM could be you have a 3G only network. Again, all will be revealed when you post those pictures of the TCU stickers.
