In all my years I've never heard of a dealer SWAPPING slots for such popular cars...
What is common is what I described (and the rest of what he explained) in that the configuration shows a different car for a while. They swap your order for another car they had previously ordered for a 'stock' car. But not with other dealers... unless you are paying MSRP, which might be a different story.
