I think that Powers (as a BMW diesel engine mechanic) and Bigwave (who I knew had a diesel, from his previous posts, although certainly others may not have known) were talking about diesels more than petrol engines. Your remapping experience with a petrol engine (naturally aspirated) is interesting, but probably isn't a direct comparison, for the above reasons.

Having said that, I think that the degeneration into calling people names is the bigger issue. It is tough to infer the true meaning on posts sometimes, it is by its nature a limited form of communication. That justs puts an onus on all of us (not just you) to make sure we don't come across too strongly. It is even more of a challenge when we have several countries represented in a thread (at least five in this thread), and posters with their own idioms (I didn't know what a sandboy was)

The short way of saying this is "Can't we all just get along?"
