no answers... it was a few years since i posted that question, i was at that time in Central America, and there was only one vendor with the specific GPS model and the maps... I got no answer, left the country, went to Russia, they had the maps for Russia, upgraded to MK4, russified the computer to recognize the cyrillic, russians kicked me out the country, when i got the car back, it was still russified (it gives directions in Russian), even though I was planning to change it over back to English...
Long story short - no, nobody replied,
...and a few Russian speaking and Ukranian speaking sites that could have shed any light into that possibility, were shut down, I suspect that they were hacking into the map databases to make them work on devices that manufacturers did not want them to be cross-compatible...
