Unlike most people on our Forum, I am a BIG believer in FACTORY (not 3rd Party) Extended Warranties.

A while back, my favourite Aunt bought a 540i. She was kind of "talked into" an extended BMW warranty at the time of purchase. I think she paid $2000 or $2500 at the time. Once her factory warranty expired, her extended warranty covered over $10,000 (yes $10,000) worth of repairs over 3 years. Well worth it.

Also my Mom's E320 extended factory warranty paid for itself in ONE repair.

And years back, we had extended warranty on a long wheelbase S500. Extended warranty was a godsend!!! Each self closing door unit was almost $1000.00, and when power windows failed, they were like $800 at the time (it's not a real Mercedes, if all power windows work at the same time .
