I was asked by a member on our Aus forum about the drive line implications with remaping. My view is with the ZF trans I don't see it as a problem when you consider the towing capacity of an X5 and the level of strain that puts on the drive line hence the reason why its recommended to fit a trans oil cooler if towing is your thing and you don't hear anyone advising against towing a large caravan uphills or pulling a large boat up a boat ramp, also I think most people who own X5s drive them sensibly its just every so often they like to give them a blast well thats how I drive mine and I've had no issues in over two years. But then you'll get those who will say yes if the vehicle was new ok, well not everyone who tows does it with new X5s.
