The Trans Failsafe is a moderately common problem for some of us. I've had early problems with it (30k). It has now reared its terrible head again.. just yesterday. Three time now in 40h.

Last time (4 years ago) it was solved by replacing the MAF air flow sensor (13-62-1-438-871) and idle speed control (13-41-1-744-713). Some guys clean the MAF sensor with solvent and it clears it up. I'm taking it in tomorrow and just having them replace the darned MAF sensor. Not worth messing with. Got a 1000 mile trip coming up in 5 days time.
