FYI I did a lot of research on LED license plate lights, and I ended up buying the CANBUS 8-led units from www.autolumination.com/. They're also about $25 shipped, they fit in the OEM housing, and no error/warning lights. Been working well for about 2-3 months now.

Wow! You paid way too much a couple of bulbs, I got mine off Ebay
with built-in load resistors for $10.
