OP did you have the car coded to support the trailer? I am guessing the dealer install is basically plug in a harness..

Dealer installed hitch and power plug so it should fall on them. In the meantime I put a jumper on the 4 pin brake adapter (by the fuse box - green/yellow to red) people use to setup a hard wired electronic brake controller - now I have a full functioning plug.
