Seems like the problem was the gas pedal got wet from the water leak. The drive by with throttle has a couple sensors in the gas pedal to tell it how far you pressed it etc. You need to get that water leak fixed asap and get the carpets out and dried! It may be worth bringing it in to the dealer to fix it and doing an insurance claim for the repairs as it can get expensive. (and yes, full coverage/comprehensive will cover issues like this)
