Yes, but this is when you use DVD. In DVD version of the map, the POIs are in the TPD folder and MK4 reads original and the added POIs without problems. In case with CD map, original POIs are in CarinDb and after insertion of custom POIs the original are not readable.

I use CD map for MK4 because the CD map is with better coverage for East Europe then DVD (High), especially for Bulgaria .
