Having went the route of just doing the driveshaft retrofit with RACEMALIBU52 only and then later having to change the gear in the transfer case. I'd recommend ordering the gear from cobratransmission.com along with a new driveshaft and be done with it for a long time.
You don't need a new transfer case for this problem just the input gear and I also recommend putting a new chain in the case while it's open. Not a difficult job once the transfer case is on the bench.
