If you're going to try and go the stop-gap measure and only replace the driveshaft end with a 1-inch longer piece then you only need to remove the front driveshaft. Send the entire driveshaft since the new end will have be be machined and welded to you existing shaft. The stock one comes out with the removal of couple bolts where it bolts on to the front differential. Standard metric socket/wrench set.
If you are going to remove the TC, then you need to remove the exhaust, the front stiffener plate under the engine, the exhaust heat shields and uncouple the rear driveshaft. The only additional special tools for this besides standard socket/wrenches are star sockets for the bolts that hold the TC to the transmission. A 12-point metric end wrench will work on the star nuts for the hard to reach bolts.
