Did you happen to take a shot or two of the brace before fitting it?
LOL. NO! I didn't! But let me warn you: That box is HUGE! And it's heavy! If ordered from getbmwparts/Tischer, it comes signature req'd, too. I was fortunate to be in my home office when it arrived. Me and the UPS guy walked it to the garage instead of my door step.

It's pretty. The only real bright chrome part was the front. The rest is brushed. If anybody sees the brushed portion, it's you, your mechanic, or the guy you just ran over.

General bumper/install tips:
  • Buy the bumper alignment parts/brackets I mention above. They were $17ea at my dealer with the CCA discount. They look to be about $15 online. Nice peace of mind if/when they break. My left ones DID break, but my dealer was out of them. The bumper did reattach and it looks fine. Maybe it will stay that way.
  • If you EVER wanted to get the black honeycomb bumber inserts from the non-sport or 4.8is instead of silver/chrome that come with the 3.0/4/4 Sport packages, this is the time. The next time the bumper comes off, the under ride is coming off first. I have the black on this 4.8 and I miss the chrome/painted silver from my 3.0. I still may change it one day. I just always liked it.
  • To remove the front bumper, find all the screws- including the ones behind the fog light covers.
  • Pull the top sides of the bumper straight out and pull the bumper fwd. This will free the bumper from the bracket and probably snap part of the mounts.
  • Have a plastic/rubber cap ready for the headlight washer fluid if so equipped. Or, a bucket/jug to drain it into at least. Stuff gets slippery on a concrete floor. Smells a little TOO much like anti freeze, too. Unsettling.

Other thoughts on the unit:
  • You'll see two chrome tabs on the front that stick up. Those are front mounts. They attach pretty easily to the newly installed mounts behind the bumper.
    • Be generous with your cuts on the bumper and the splash guard. You'll need room to work a wrench head in there to tighten the bolts.
    • Do NOT tighten the front mounts until the rear four are completely mounted! You need the play this affords you.
  • You'll see four other mounting points on the unit- twin slots cut into the two aluminum cross members. THOSE are where the four brackets go.
  • On the rear, the brackets align with mounting holes through the tubular frame.
  • The triangular side of the brackets have a hole that lines up with two holes on the hollow frame beneath the car. THOSE are the holes that you fish the curved, threaded units to align.
  • The hex bolts are used to thread through to the mounts.
