Defective eccentric shaft sensor
Yesterday I started my 2008 X-5 3.0, the engine light illuminated and the idle was rough. So I took the car to the dealership to have it checked out. Today the service representative tells me that the eccentric shaft sensor that adjusts the valvetronic system is defective and needs to be replaced at a cost of about $900. Has anyone else seen this problem before? How common is this?
