NetBeui is the successor to NetBios. MS has used this since the beginning of their version of a network OS.

MS is always behind the curve, why do you think they copy others?

Piggyback Timer is not a book. I believe it's discussed in RFC 1693. The reading will probably be quite dry though. The important thing is how communication works, or hoe MS believes it should work. You could use Google to find information about piggyback timer as well.

I mainly run UNIX. Forget Win programs, there are plenty to use that are native on UNIX.
