So yesterday I had my first oil service at 8727 miles-- I thought BMW changed their policy about annual low mileage oil changes (i.e., wait until CBS notes the mileage--I was still at around a 2500 count down & the time--Sept was one year since delivery).
I never had any issues with DEF warnings, but I did remind them to top off both DEF tanks. My invoice looks identical to the invoice noted above. My question relates to the amount of DEf needed now that it is just a top off rather than a flush and fill. Are 2-2.5 gals enough until the next oil service? Also, how do the techs know how much to top off--there isn't a measure or is there? I was pissed when I opened the hood and found DEF residue stains throughout the engine bay and also some on my front bumper and headlight. I wiped it off immediately! I always tell the dealer never to wash my cars, so perhaps I would not have seen it had they washed it. But still, why wouldn't the tech clean up any spilt DEF

Isn't it highly corrosive?
