Ironic thing is, it's completely the opposite in Europe. Here, used petrol X5s are cheap as chips. A three year old diesel X5 will cost more than a three year old petrol X5 despite the latter having a significantly higher original cost. The same goes for X3s - A 2.0d X3 of a similar age would have been worth about 50% more than the 3.0i X3 we had.
