Naz let's get real now, I know it wasn't your daddy that presented you with this "option", you know it was you who presented this to them.

Anyhow, if your 4.4 has that much sentimental value to you, I suggest you keep it. Although, your mom's 4.6 is "mommyfied" as you state, then it should be in great condition also. As far as what you've put into your 4.4, it can easily be forgotten/reapplied to your moms 4.6. If you sell your rims, you will have cash to tint out the 4.6 and some left over to buy the carbon pillars. The only thing you will need to do, is bake/heatgun the headlights and add AE's or go Depo or MrBMWx5. Also, I know you have thought about adding front and rear 4.6is/4.8is spoilers and arched fender flares to your 4.4, now you don't have to retrofit.. I am sure that you have washed, clayed and waxed your moms 4.6 before so the outer conditions should be about the same as your 4.4. Also, its not like your going from a X5 to a Ford Explorer, your doing BMW for BMW(with more power).
