amacman - I wasn't sure if I was just being impatient about it clearing out or if something else was going on? I actually saw a post (might have been one of yours) with that same pic and I did look. I still have oil in there, I just didn't think it was enough to sustain the problem? When I picked up my parts from the dealer they also mentioned that they have a procedure and equipment to clean up after this problem....makes sense!
pezho485 - I found with my vehicle (N62 engine) it does not have the dreaded oil separator valve that many have problems with. The crankcase vent valves (ccv) seem to fail quite a bit and is a classic cause for the white smoke. They are inexpensive and very easy to change. My issue was an obvious tear but I was puzzled as to why the change didn't seem to help. Looks like I need to do a little cleaning or be more patient!
