The best way is to find a good paint shop. They remove them, prep and and spray.
Picture below is film that I tried. Left is reverse light covered. Right is with the reverse light cutout. Didn't like it at all. Took it to IND in Chicago. They pulled off film and painted. I like the darker tint with reverse lights being left white. Very difficult to do with film.
