thanks for the suggestion guys. i took it out today and you will not believe what i found.


as soon as i pulled it out the face came off the unit, it looks like somone had tried to take the control interface off it and had damaged it as result.

I have ordered a second hand e39 climate control unit from ebay, it looks exatly like the original with the same number of buttons and everything so i hope that will fit.
