The reason I am asking is I am getting 15.2 mpg on my 2006 X5 4.8is with 40,000 miles. Neither I smash the gas pedal nor any hard acceleration. Most of the driving is at 65 mph if I do more street driving it drops to low 14 mpg very quickly.
I constantly get around 320 miles and it takes about 21gallons to fill it all the way back up. (320 miles / 21gallons = 15.2mpg)
Thanks,

For full tank 23.4 gallons I drive 346miles ( and that is constant , I might get 40 miles less when I drive aggressively )., and that's when yellow gas light comes on and I still have 47 miles to go. I haven't changed the spark plugs only filters. NAV says always 17.8 miles.
I would say , you stop firmly and accelerate little harder than me. My RPMs when I accelerate wont go more than "3" I think, maybe that is the reason
