Make sure the tranny has been rebuilt or replaced, especially at that mileage If it hasn't then be prepared for a $3k bill in the near future. Typically, they seem to eat themselves apart around 85k-100k miles. I've heard some went around 50k but I think someone on here rockin 200k miles on the original tranny. I paid $3,400 for a rebuild from an indy. It's the torque convertor in these ZF tranny's that seems to be the weak point. Do a search and you'll see what I mean. I see your in NV, but in the cold weather up here in New England the crank case vent valve freezing can mean anything from just a messy situation to total chaos under the hood. You should also look at the control arm bushings and ball joints, sway bar end links, steering rack for leaks and coolant expansion tank. Control arms and sway bar links should be considered general maintenance. Rear tires wear pretty excessively due to the crazy camber, especially its lowered. I've never had a problem, but if the it has rear air suspension check the air bags for leaks. I think they're pricey. In my own experience and from my readings here on x5world, it seems like the average is about 1-2k a year in preventive maintenance and repairs. Personally I would stay away from a V6. You don't get that much better mpg for the pleasure of driving a V8. If you take off the resonator and replace with an x-pipe, it sounds awesome. Its a nice deep, yet subtle growl. Even though I've dropped a ton of money fixing and maintaining by X, the payoff for the way it drives is well worth it. I don't want to scare you away, I just though I'd mention the common issues and that just requires attention.
