I'm aware of that. I ended up on the E53 forum as a result of doing a search for the problem. Looks like you guys have the same problem as those of us with E70s do.

I wonder why if this problem has persisted for so long why BMW hasn't solved it.

And no, 2011 X5d's do not have dipsticks. I wish they did.
