After reading all the Oil Separator failure threads over many years, the only advice I can glean from them in order to "prevent" this from happening to me is:

1. have the newer parts installed (not feeling this one...yet)
2. avoid short trips that don't burn off all the moisture in the oil
3. change oil prior to winter
4. clean out separator from time to time

Do I have that right...did I miss something?
