I thought you got a I touch for the road trip last summer. You can change the sampling rate for better quality but still won't sound as a good as a CD.
I have to say that the Apple devices do play nice together. I can rip a CD on my MacBook and play it on my Pad and send the sound to my stereo though a Airport Express.
I have to say that they suck you in, even traded my Droid X for a I Phone. Still miss the larger screen on the X.
