Couple of hints

Getting the trans out is indeed not too difficult but it helps to read the threads of people on here who did it and come up with some of the problems they have had.

Here are a couple of items you need to do off the top of my head:

Take the stiffener plate off under the engine.

The oxygen sensors need to be disconnected and the exhaust has to be removed from the manifold to the connection just in front of the rear axle.

Take the wire loom off the transmission.

The front drive shaft needs to be released from the front diff.

The main drive shaft needs to be unbolted from the output of the Transfer Case.

Release the front stabilizer bar frm the bottom of the links. It does not come out but it is enough if it can move fore and aft.

The oil cooler lines need to come off, it is easier if you remove them altogether but some have left them connected to the intercooler on the radiator.

On top remove the AC filter housing to get to the top 2 bolts of the trans (which are smaller in size then the others)

Remove the starter motor. The bolts opposite the starter have nuts on them, they are not threaded in to the block.

As to the jack, I built a little frame out of 2x4 lumber and used a regualar jack. I did it by myself but if you have a buddy it will be even easier.
