I'd rather have Vette too, but with 3 kids, it's a little out of the question for me as a daily driver.
One thing that's wearing me out on the CTS-V is exactly what you said - they're putting that motor in everything these days. So, with the new factor having worn off, I need to boost or move on.
The 2 cars I have owned that I loved the most were the X5 (4.4 SP), and a 1987 535is. I saw that exact car for sale on ebay the other day, and almost bought it, but my kids walked in while I was looking at it and ratted me out to their mom.

They're getting rocks in their stockings next Christmas!
