checking in on this issue as well. i had the exact same scenario last year while we were in the sierras. the car only did it when in the mountains. roughly 8-10 seconds of cranking and the car would start and run flawlessly. i replaced the crank position sensor which didn't work. all software is up to date. drove it back home to warmer temps and sea level and took it in to my local indy who interogated the DME with autologic and found no stored codes. the only issue that was found was a dying battery. he replaced my battery and i had no issues what so ever unitl recently. it's only happened once but it's rather troubling to know this is an ongoing problem.
p.s. the new OEM battery is only a year old.
