The e53 was and still is a good looking vehicle. However, it is aging, albeit well. The e70 is a good looking vehicle too. Especially in sport package trim, imo. I still remember the first time I saw an e70 4.8i with the y-spokes in person. The new one is probably going to look great too. The good news is there are still e53's out there if you want to buy one. Most people will move on though. Although some recent BMW designs were questionable, ie. e60, e65 7 series, 5 series GT, X6, etc, overall, I think they are heading in the right direction with the current designs.

I have to disagree with you comment regarding all post 2006 models being ugly. The current 3 series coupes, 5 series, 6 series, X5, 7 series and Z4 are good looking cars, imo.
