Genuinely curious as to why you need to remove the DME???

I cannot imagine a situation in which someone has a real and qualified reason to gain access to, and physically remove the DME...yet needs a public forum to figure it out.

Oh, a perfectly acceptable answer is "Just curious, not planning on doing it now, but was wondering how it is done in the event people make DME upgrades that require removal".

And I suppose I too am glad you are not my son.
