ok glad you got it sorted out. Is your X5 a diesel or petrol?
The dealer replaced the oil separator (aka CCV) but after 3 months later, oil leaked again. They replaced the intake manifold this time as oil was leaking from the seal.
Google "swirl flaps". Have a read of this thread if you have time:
