Yes, the inner piece does rub against the tailgate door, but that has felt, so no scratches....
This seems like a pretty good idea and worked for him... The carbon fiber on the X5 actually looked very good, and did not scratch and apparently the customer has had it on since delivery of his truck about 5 months ago....
So, I guess I am in the process of getting a sheet of adhesive carbon Fiber.... I will look online later, determine how much i need and go from there...
When i start the project I will take pics, I did not have my phone with me when I went to see the X5
