Actually I understood his point. As fas as why the TC1100 had a far better feature set many years earlier, and yet nobody bought it is a question
that needs to be answered by those in the PC world. Why were PC users dissatisfied even with the impressive feature set? I don't know. Why were Mac Users at the time dissatisfied even with the impressive feature set and made the decision not to buy it? I don't know. I'm sure it isn't just the herd mentality because any company can foster a following if the they just gatherthe ranks and concentrate on it the way Apple has. So it has to be something else other than the so called Fan Boi hysteria after all it's PC users that have been switching.
In my opinion the reason why people have gravitated towards the iPad and other Apple products may be it's ease of use, seamless integration with other apple products, quality manufacturing, excellent customer service, free product training and a host of other advantages made possible by a closed system. Charging more pays for all those things including additional R&D which makes for a product that last much longer than it's PC counterpart.
Personally I believe both platforms have their use and i use them both...

If not that, then what is your alternate hypothesis for why it has been so successful, despite having a smaller feature set and a higher price?
