 The reason US buyers dont pay "world prices" is because US is the largest market by far for BMW, more BMW's are probably sold just in California than in the whole UK.  UK buyers pay more because there aren't enough to reap the economies of scale, like in the US.  If any market can support a new engine/new model it's the US, not the rest of the world "small batch" individual markets.
