Regarding the Android version, it uses wifi connection for the android based features (e.g. the navigation). So your options are: 1) wifi hotspot or 2) tethering from your smartphone's data plan. Option 2 is the most realistic application/use, but it would cost you to enable tethering on your smartphone with your carrier (e.g. AT&T charges $10/mo for enabling tethering). Specifically for navigation, you can purchase other nav/map apps (e.g. Copilot) that do allow you download the maps and use the nav app in an offline mode with just the GPS signal.

All good points!

I have "old" unlimited data plan from ATT and jailbroken iPhone so tethering works really well for me.
The best tethering app out there is MyWi -around $15.00 and it works perfectly with Dynavin.
I think Sygic is much cleaner, user friendly Navi app and you can use it as a regular Navi, no need for wifi connection but you need to have a large memory card to store all the maps. I bought 16K and it works fine.
I dont have DSP in my car.
