Mandatory back up cameras are 100% ideal and I am going to tell you why.

Now, you grab the heated steering wheel to swerve but it is too late. You hear a thud followed by the lane departure warning chime. Hear me out now. This is exactly when you want the back up camera. Was that a deer or a person? Luckily, you have a mandatory camera. This way you can just back up a bit and see what you clipped without even getting out of the car. I think it is absolutely brilliant! Oh, and by now you are hearing from BMW assist.

With all these safety nannies, BMW may be forced to change it's slogan to "The Ultimate Machine" as there will be so little actual driving or paying attention anymore.
