Drivers Window Bolt Through Glass

Hi. I believe I have a problem with the connection of the glass with the mechanism that goes up and down the track (Note: this is a 2003 X5 3.0L Drivers Door LHD). The glass has a hole in it to mount on a "spindle" and a plastic clip below that looks too cheap to have a function. On the other side of the spindle is a bolt head. My assumption is that I am missing a nut (or something) that keeps the glass on the spindle OR perhaps that is the function of the plastic clip and that it is damaged. What do I need to do to secure, or hold in place, the glass to the spindle?

Here were my symptoms: There was a "clunk" when rolling down the window. All was normal when rolling up the window. We stopped using the window for fear something worse would happen. During an accidental use, the window rolled all the way down and would not roll up. I followed the instructions found here http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-actuator.html to remove the door panel, I unbolted the airbag and bungeed it to the door lock, then peeled back the door lining and reconnected the window switches. I then tried to roll up the window while pulling up on the glass at the bottom edge. It rolled up all the way. I think it was askew inside the door and was stuck.
