@slickGT1 - I was about to button up the door when I saw your post. Thank you. This confirms that the Hex Nut (parts 3) in the Real OEM diagram is not used. The problem was the plastic clip ... the "arms" that flare out to hold the window in place were broken (the clip is cheap, cheap, cheap). With the new clip installed the window mechanism is outstanding. Works smoothly, no play or window flop.

Let me mention one item for anyone who does this next ... if you are a tad dim, like me, you might try to remove the hex bolt with an 8mm open end wrench. This would not work for me. However, there is an access hole shown in the above photo, about 1.5 inches below where the mechanism is in the photos, that is perfect for a 8mm socket and gives nice hand access to the outside of the window. I'll do a bit better write-up when the project is done. Thanks for your help.
