Finally found the code and paired my HTC EVO 4G to my 05 X5..
The key was to pair them after you start the vehicle with in the first minute.. OBC takes awhile to connect to phone and then hit your call button on steering wheel.. mid will read downloading phone book!! ..this seems to take a while.. made a call and all works fine ..
