I am guessing your tank has suffered the same fate as the 7 series tanks which implode because the vent which permits air in to replace any fuel used has become blocked creating huge vacuum .
Spiders in cocoons over winter are the usual culprits so find the pipe which draws air in and check it is clear of spiders . Maybe fit some gauze over the inlet to keep the blighters out .
